Footage from VTV1, Live Broadcast of the official opening of Dung Quat Refinery, Vietnam's first oil refinery and Honeywell Southeast Asia’s first mega-project in the country.
Please Note:
Vietnam's first oil refinery, Dung Quat (DQR) in central Quang Ngai province was officially inaugurated on 22 Feb 2009 by Vietnamese Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung. The nationally televised ceremony at the refinery was attended by senior dignitaries, project owners and industry experts. Owned by PetroVietnam, the project took more than 3 years to construct.
Honeywell was pre-selected as a vendor by PetroVietnam for this mega-project. The Government and PetroVietnam chose French company Technip as the main contractor which in turn selected Honeywell to provide an integrated plant-wide control system comprising of DCS, Emergency Shutdown, Fire & Gas Systems, Terminal and Blending Movement Automation Solutions Systems.
This project is a major milestone for Honeywell. Not only have we built a good relationship with Vietnam’s government bodies, we have also established ourselves as a top-notch provider of automation solutions, delivering on-time and on-budget while meeting the expectations of being a pre-selected vendor in Vietnam’s first largest industrial undertaking.
Today, Vietnam imports 13M tons of fuel annually and DQR will have a significant impact on its economy by domestically helping to ensure Vietnam's energy security. The $2.5B refinery can process 6.3M tons of oil products to meet 30 per cent of Vietnam’s demand for fuel. To date, 98% of construction is completed and the project is scheduled for further expansion in 2011 to enable it to process 10M tons of products.
Technip Consortium and PetroVietnam are very satisfied with Honeywell’s level of service and performance throughout the project. PetroVietnam has issued a commendation letter on our successful completion of FAT and site activities are expected to be completed and handed over by October 2009.
The Honeywell control room was featured on national television to mark the DQR’s official opening.
