Console Migration - Universal Station: Frequently Asked Questions

Q: Do users have to rewrite graphics?
A: Both the ES-T and the ES-T ready platforms support Universal Station graphics without change. When operating in the Experion environment as an ES-T, you have the option to develop HMI Web graphics. Your existing Universal Station graphics will continue to function.

Q: When moving to an ES-T ready platform, do you need an Experion Server TPS?
A: An Experion Server TPS is not required for the ES-T ready platform, since you will not be executing the ES-T software. When you elect to move to the ES-T software, an Experion Server TPS will be required.

Q: Can users upgrade their Universal Station in place, without removing it or replacing the furniture?
A: Yes, for these situations we recommend the Integrated Operator Node (ION), which is a cost-effective approach to upgrading without removing the station. This solution is of particular interest for customers who cannot remove their existing stations due to environmental challenges. The ION allows the Universal Station to move forward with technology with minimal disruption.
