Honeywell Corrosion Services

Corrosion detection and monitoring data is just one step toward solving plant and field corrosion problems.  To understand or investigate corrosion root causes, analysis or consultation by corrosion experts is often required.

Honeywell’s integrated approach to taming and understanding the cause of corrosion and its effects includes expert consultation, testing and evaluation services, and new customer designated research programs to address specific corrosion issues.

Consulting Services

With over 30 years of practical work experience in troubleshooting field corrosion problems, Honeywell corrosion experts are available to consult on corrosion control management strategy development, assessment programs, corrosion modeling using state-of-the-art software models,  practical recommendations for material use and failure prevention.

Testing Services

Honeywell’s state-of-the-art corrosion research laboratory specializes in the evaluation of customer designated metals, polymers, ceramics and coatings.  Honeywell Testing Services can administer standardized test procedures per ISO, ASTM, NACE or EFC methodologies.  Additionally, Testing Services can modify standardized tests to match a customer’s non-standard conditions and still employ industry recognized test methods.

Honeywell Testing Services will routinely handle process chemicals and conditions that other test labs may not be willing to address, including high pressure H2S / CO2, multiphase exposures and naphthenic and sulfidic acid corrosion evaluations.

Honeywell’s corrosion laboratory is equipped to replicate aqueous environments under temperature and pressure.  The laboratory has vast array of high temperature and high pressure autoclave vessels that can contain 0.5 to 20L of volume, temperatures up to
660 F and pressures up to 20,000 psi.  Multiphase, stirred and flowing media is also supported.

Industry Specific Research Programs

Honeywell’s Joint Industry Programs are a specialized customer-sponsored corrosion engineering and research service.  Joint Industry Programs are dedicated to the investigation of common industrial corrosion problem.  Previous programs have investigated the prediction and assessment of ammonium bisulfide corrosion under refinery sour water service conditions, prediction of crude oil corrosivity and prediction and assessment of corrosion in amine systems.

Each company sponsor benefits from the research data generated from the program, which has in the past resulting in multi-million dollars in benefits.  Honeywell welcomes industry clients to join in existing programs and listens to requests for new programs to fit pressing industry needs.
