Manage

Managing an open automation system takes care and attention to day to day administrative and security related tasks such as: patch management, anti-virus updates, system administration and firewalls.  These services help you manage these tasks either remotely or in combination of remote and local support as required to meet your business needs.  And, you won’t consume key engineering resources who would otherwise be providing higher value services, because Honeywell provides secure system performance monitoring with expert analysis 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.  Utilizing a security program that meets even the most demanding restrictions, Honeywell provides remote expert process control network (PCN) management support, ensuring maximum network performance and system uptime. The following services make up the Manage – Maintain suite of open systems services.

  • Remote Connectivity – Provides secure connectivity to a customer site for various remote requirements, primarily for system troubleshooting, system administration and remote diagnostics.
  • PCN System Administration – Ensures appropriate IT best practices are followed for your process control network (PCN) and provides remote system administration for users and tasks. 
  • Patch Management – Provides remote configuration and download to site of approved Honeywell and 3rd party operating system patches.  These patches are then installed locally by either the customer or Honeywell. 
  • Virus Protection – Provides remote configuration and access to download tested anti-virus definition tables for automated or manual installation at site. 
  • Perimeter Management – This is an ongoing service explicitly targeted at managing the perimeter between the corporate network and the PCN. This service gives customers a single point of contact (Honeywell) to implement any required firewall modifications. The service provides proactive maintenance and remote troubleshooting of the firewall infrastructure and can include intrusion detection and prevention systems (IDS/IPS).
  • System Performance Monitoring – Allows you to establish a performance baseline at any time to then compare current performance and determine degradation over time in order to better plan for upgrades.  In addition, since a PCN component can become unavailable for a multitude of different reasons, such as hardware or software failures, resource depletions, stopped services and bandwidth constraints; this service will help predict and/or manage these events. 
  • Remote Application Hosting – Allows utilization of applications without worry about software management such as patches or updates.  The application exists within a secure Honeywell environment and you access it whenever you want. It is a form of cloud computing within the secure B2B connection between you and Honeywell.
