FAQs

Q: What qualifications does Honeywell have in the area of safety?
A:
Honeywell programs follow OSHA’s PQV (Program, Quality, and Verification) auditing method. First, the program for the audited element must be identified. Then, the program quality is judged in comparison to OSHA/EPA regulatory compliance, and industry guidance and benchmarks. Finally, verification of implementation is performed through documentation searches and staff interviews.

Honeywell has always been an innovator in the area of safety.  For example, Honeywell Safety Management Systems introduced the Quadruple Modular Redundant (QMR) architecture with 2oo4D voting in the year 2000. Since then, QMR and 2oo4D have become a new standard in the world of safety instrumented systems.

Several Honeywell engineers around the world are TÜV Certified Functional Safety Experts (CFSE), demonstrating the extensive knowledge and skills for QMR projects and applications.

It is not just the QMR Safety System that complies with IEC 61508.  The complete development, engineering and manufacturing complies with the IEC 61508 standard.

Q: How do I start?
A:
Honeywell’s team of experts will perform an assessment of all of the areas of risk that impact plant safety including benchmarking against known best practices.  A gap analysis is completed to identify opportunities for improvement.  Once this assessment is completed, the customer can consider what technology could be employed to enable the necessary changes.

Honeywell has a long-standing reputation of being a dependable supplier with an extensive history of broad plant safety expertise.  Through this Integrated Safety Solutions program, you can supplement your own experience with ours, allowing you to analyze the gaps in technology, people skills, and processes, resulting in an implementation plan that addresses the high priority areas.  Continuous improvement should also be employed by implementing tools and processes that monitor key performance indicators (KPI) and provide feedback on their performance.

Q: How do I lower my risk in choosing Honeywell for an integrated approach to plant safety?
A:
Honeywell is completely committed to delivering value and ensuring that our customers receive quality solutions on time and on budget. We have the experience and the expertise to deliver integrated solutions to meet current and future needs. We believe that keeping your plant, people, and the environment safe is in all of our best interests.
