Multiple controllers are available with Experion® to provide the ultimate flexibility: the C200 Process Controller, the C300 Process Controller, the Application Control Environment (ACE), the C200 Simulation Environment (SIM-C200) and the C300 Simulation Environment (SIM-C300). Each of these uses the Control Execution Environment (CEE) software that provides an execution and scheduling environment where control strategies are configured from a rich set of standard and optional function blocks using a single builder tool, Control Builder.
Function blocks are grouped and wired together in a container to perform a specific control function such as a valve control strategy. The CEE supports two types of containers: the Control Module in which continuous and discrete controls are combined; and an SCM, which is used for sequence control. Function blocks support the complete control application range, such as continuous, discrete and batch control.
Execution in the CEE can be scheduled on an individual basis where each control module and sequential control module is assigned an execution period. Available execution periods depend upon the control platform and range from 5 ms to 24 hours. Execution of control strategies is guaranteed and deterministic.
The CEE provides a seamless communication infrastructure through which control strategies can exchange data through parameter connections. The data source can be any CEE-based controller in the system. The location of source data will be determined by the system in an efficient manner.
The Series C C300 Controller operates the Control Execution Environment in a vertically designed hardware form factor that reduces footprint and improves wiring.
The Experion C200 Process Controller consists of a chassis, ControlNet communication module or Fault Tolerant Bridge module, the Control Processor Module (CPM) and the optional Redundancy Module
