Honeywell’s Operating Instructions is a software application to manage the daily operating plan in process plants. Operating Instructions manages targets for process plants, mines, and mills, and improves coordination between planning staff and the operating department with a uniform, structured way to enter and activate the plan. A clearer understanding of the operating plan helps process plants run more effectively, and achieve the plan faster and more precisely.
Operating Instructions translates operating plans from planning terms into executable items. Its three-step process for creating, authorizing, and activating instructions ensures that proper management tools are in place. Plant staff will have the tools to define numerical targets for process and quality data—and to validate them against normal operating targets.
The targets, and associated notes, explain how the plant should be operated. The right instructions are given at the right time, creating a firm link to enterprise-wide supply chain management.
Operating Instructions can be used anywhere in the process industries where the operating plan consists of numerical targets and comments. This includes refineries, chemical plants, offshore production platforms, mines, pulp mills, and other process facilities.
Operating Instructions is included in Honeywell's Operations Management suite of products, which is part of the Business FLEX® family of software applications. Operating Instructions is supported by the Uniformance® Database System, which provides data collection, storage and management; and by the Experion™ Process Knowledge System (PKS) Application Framework for configurable, web services-based applications.
