For reasons of operating flexibility and cost-effectiveness, refinery unit operations generate a range of intermediate streams that are blended into products. Honeywell designed Open Blend Property Control (OpenBPC) specifically for on-line blend reformulation and optimization. It allows operations to efficiently blend fuels to the required specifications, while optimizing the formulation of the blend components. OpenBPC is one of the components of Honeywell’s Blending and Movement Automation (BMA) software solution suite.

OpenBPC offers sophisticated property control and optimization for in-line blending. It is designed to interface with Honeywell's Blend Ratio Control (BRC) or Experion™ Process Knowledge System (PKS) Blend Controller (EBC) modules to provide complete integration between basic component ratio control and advanced property control. In addition to sophisticated Blend Optimization capabilities, OpenBPC features recipe management facilities and report generation.
