SAND

Honeywell’s SAND is a supply and distribution optimization tool which helps determine the most cost-effective method for satisfying both an enterprise’s raw material needs and it’s customer demands.  SAND is part of Honeywell’s Advanced Planning and Scheduling suite of applications.

SAND helps realize greater profitability by generating optimal short-term operational plans while evaluating long-term strategic decisions to utilize all of the enterprise’s assets most effectively.  Using SAND, a business model can easily be constructed which answers some key questions about how to proactively manage your business:

  • How to allocate raw materials to processing facilities and products to customers
  • How to operate constraining resources
  • How to select the most economics modes of transportation and routes.

The SAND business model also allows users to consider all of the variables which affect their specific supply & distribution network, including multi-step supply availability and product demands; distribution system costs and limitations; and processing unit constraints and costs.  SAND is then used to determine the optimal method of producing products and satisfying customer demands.

The SAND object-oriented entry screens allow you to represent purchase opportunities, product demands, distribution costs and capacities, manufacturing costs and capacities, inventories, and a variety of special modeling constraints typical of the process industries.
