IntelaTrac PKS: FAQs

Q: How does the user get started with IntelaTrac® PKS?
A: Get started with IntelaTrac PKS software, Oracle or Microsoft SQL, handheld device(s) or laptop computers, Unix, or Intel-based server—IntelaTrac PKS runs over virtually any network supporting TCP/IP.

Q: What client operating systems and handheld devices does IntelaTrac PKS support?
A: IntelTrac PKS supports WIN 32-compliant systems. These include, but are not limited to, handheld computers from Symbol, Intermec, and ECOM.

Q: Does the user need to have a wireless network?
A: No, IntelaTrac PKS does not require a wireless network. Customers can use the system as a cradled link and sync, as well as part of a wired or wireless network that supports TCP/IP.

Q: What software and middleware packages are supported?
A: IntelaTrac PKS does not require middleware, but does integrate with many popular historians and CMMS packages.

Q: Can IntelaTrac PKS support off-line users (e.g. when a network is down or when there is no network)?
A: Yes, IntelaTrac PKS has a store and forward capability. IntelaTrac PKS can be synchronized with the server either by re-establishing a wireless network connection or through cradle synchronization.

Q: Does the handheld component of this solution support bar coding and RFID?
A: Bar coding and RFID are supported and are commonly used in these applications. IntelaTrac PKS is unique in that it supports 134 kHz RFID for use in heavy metallic Class 1 Div 2 environments.

Q: Can IntelaTrac PKS be set to automatically syncrhonize data when it moves within range of a wireless network?
A: Not in the current version. Plans call for automatic synchronization in a future release.

Q: What happens if the user moves out of coverage while the device is communicating/synching?
A: The device will not erase data until it receives a receipt acknowledgement from the server.
