Field Device Manager

Field Device Manager (FDM) provides plant instrument engineers, technicians and maintenance personnel with an optimized environment that simplifies instrument configuration and maintenance tasks and enables remote management of smart instruments.  With complete command and control of HART and Profibus smart instruments throughout the plant, FDM improves overall asset and maintenance effectiveness.

FDM supports HART-based field devices associated with Experion-connected I/O as well as non-Experion-connected multiplexers and modems.  It can be used with systems such as TDC 2000®, TDC3000®, FSC®, PMD, or other third-party DCS systems.  It also offers support for Profibus networks and PA or DP devices using Profibus communication and device DTMs (device type managers), as well as HART devices connected to Profibus networks via HART-over -Profibus gateway devices.  FDM allows the user to manage configuration of a large number of devices connected to multiple Experion servers.

FDM provides the ability to remotely perform common tasks on instruments, thereby greatly reducing otherwise required field trips.  It simplifies and reduces effort normally involved in plant debugging process by providing clear and accurate status of the devices within the control room/maintenance shop.  The Offline Configuration feature allows you to complete the device configuration offline without the device being physically present and lets you download the configuration at the push of a button.

FDM simplifies maintenance tasks and saves time by automatically highlighting instruments that have faults or need diagnosis.  Faults are identified and classified automatically, without the need for special setup.  With FDM, no point engineering or database building is required.  Simply configure the communication parameters and smart devices are automatically detected.  This eliminates the need to build templates and assign them to devices.

Field Device Manager is well integrated into Experion, allowing the operator to view and configure FDM data through an embedded Flex Station client.
