Honeywell invites you to share your experiences and successes with other conference delegates. Case studies, applications, industry issues, project implementations and technical achievements are all welcome. We are in particular looking for presenters on the following topics related to Honeywell solutions:
Your Experience
The Steering Committee has decided to extend the discussions to include such topics as:
Our hope is to embrace a more diverse representation from within the Honeywell user community.
If you are selected to present, the conference registration fee is waived.
One of the main purposes of the annual conference is to learn by exchanging information between peers. If you have a success story, special expertise or experience with Honeywell solutions that could be interesting to your fellow delegates, please consider presenting a paper during one of the sessions.
Please submit your abstract on your Honeywell solutions, products, services, findings and/or lessons learned by 26 May 2011.
* Please note that speakers are responsible for travel costs and hotel fees.
To submit a paper for consideration, please send an abstract of your presentation (a sample abstract can be found below) and the required contact information (also listed below) to barbera.debaar@honeywell.com.
Please note that the abstract should contain sufficient information to enable the Steering Committee to make an informed decision on the acceptability of the paper. In particular, the paper must be relevant to the activities and interests of other users.
The Business Benefits of Advanced Process Control (APC) Applications
Honeywell’s APC application was recently installed in our gas processing facility. The plant that underwent the project was an ethane and NGL recovery plant with two identical trains which produce ethane at 95 percent recovery. The plant utilizes an efficient internal heat recovery system as well as a propane refrigeration system shared between both trains. Loop interactions arising from the internal heat recovery configuration as well as the typical interactions found in fractionation columns made this plant a good candidate for an APC application. As a result, lack of knowledge and expertise drove us to utilize Honeywell to execute this project.
The success of the project is attributed to the project execution approach which was based on the objective of achieving the maximum transfer of knowledge between the consultant and proponent. Specifically, the APC activities of one of the two trains were led by the consultant from the pre-test phase up to commissioning. The other train’s APC activities were led by us from the pre-test phase up until commissioning with consultant intervention only upon request. The result of this approach was an APC application that produced additional benefits that would not have been realized without an effective knowledge transfer.
This presentation shows the total economic benefits of an APC application on an ethane and NGL recovery plant and the incremental benefits realized through knowledge transfer and project commitment. The final predicted payback period is less than two quarters through increasing product yield and conserving energy. This presentation also highlights lessons learned that have the potential to add value to any APC project.
