HONEYWELL HOSTS SECOND ANNUAL STUDENT COMPETITION

‘Innovators of Tomorrow’ Will Present Ideas at Prestigious Honeywell EMEA Customer Conference in Lisbon

BRUSSELS, BELGIUM, Aug 10, 2009 Honeywell today announced that it is accepting entries for its second-annual student competition aimed at advancing innovation in the field of process automation. The competition is open to high school and university students in Europe, the Middle East and Africa (EMEA) who are interested pursuing technical careers such as engineering.

The winners will receive an all-expenses-paid trip to the Honeywell EMEA Users’ Group 2009 Conference in Lisbon, 27-29 October where they will present their winning projects to event attendees. The conference provides an opportunity for students to learn more about the process industries, network with attendees and potentially meet a future employer.

Competition details

Economic and cost pressures are forcing process manufacturers to think of new, innovative and unique ways to use the same day-to-day tools. Efficiency, productivity, reliability and safety are some of the key issues that must be considered when developing new process solutions.

With this scenario in mind, entrants are invited to submit applications for one or more of the following topics:

1.      What will the Control Room of the future look like?

2.      Innovative use of Honeywell’s UniSim® Design software

3.      How will plants be secured and how will roles change over the next 10 years?

Submissions and deadline

Papers of approximately 300 words in length should be submitted by email to barbera.debaar@honeywell.com by 30 August 2009.

More information can be found on Honeywell’s website: www.honeywell.com/ps/hug select Europe Middle East and Africa and select Student Competition.
