Solution Reduces Energy Consumption, GHG Emissions and Maintenance Costs; Increases Plant Availability and Reliability
PHOENIX, Sept 8, 2009 – Honeywell (NYSE:HON) today announced an agreement with Australia-based Synengco Pty Ltd. under which Honeywell will license and sell SentientSystem® a suite of advanced applications that optimize operations and provide sophisticated asset management for utility power customers. The SentientSystem solution includes: intelligent sootblowing, combustion optimization, unit optimization, early warning detection, root cause analysis, thermal stress analysis, and plant performance monitoring.
SentientSystem is capable of fully integrating with the Honeywell Experion® Process Knowledge System, as well as other distributed control systems (DCS). The applications work together to accomplish two main objectives: improving operation efficiency and asset management. SentientSystem integrates and optimizes the decision making process associated with process unit and fleet-wide production operations allowing utilities to get maximum power from the system while lowering costs, reducing energy consumption and improving environmental performance. The asset management applications provide process monitoring, early warning systems, creep and fatigue monitoring and root cause analysis to help improve the reliability of plant assets, extend their life and reduce maintenance costs.
“We have already won key SentientSystem projects with Synengco in China and in conjunction with Doosan Heavy Industries & Construction Co. Ltd for a project in India”, said Paul King leader, Asia-Pacific power business, Honeywell Process Solutions. “Both customers will be able to improve their capacity and plant availability, and reduce energy and maintenance costs without having to make a large investment in new capital equipment, which is critical in this lean economy”.
“Australia is a good barometer for technology like SentientSystem because the country has historically been a high GHG emitter,” said Don Sands, CEO for Synengco. “For the last decade, some of Australia’s power producers have succeeded in improving operations with SentientSystem, and this new agreement with Honeywell will enable more customers around the world to leverage this proven technology.”
Synengco is a specialist engineering technology and consultancy firm servicing the power industry since 1996 with operations in both Australia and the USA.
