HONEYWELL TO BOOST EFFICIENCY OF TURKEY’S LARGEST PRIVATE SUGAR PRODUCER

New Software Enhancement Support Program and Automation System Upgrade To Help Improve Performance at Key Production Facility

ISTANBUL, Turkey, July 30, 2009 – Honeywell (NYSE:HON) today announced it has been awarded a three year maintenance and support contract with Turkey’s largest private sugar producer, Konya Sugar Inc. As part of the Solution Enhancement Support Program (SESP) contract, Honeywell also will upgrade the Experion® Process Knowledge System (PKS) at Konya Sugar’s Cumra production site.

SESP is Honeywell’s core system support program that helps customers keep their automation investments up to date. In addition, SESP provides several support mechanisms that can improve the performance and uptime of automation systems, such as training for engineers and operators, access to Honeywell’s on-line knowledgebase, and access to the experts in the technical assistance center to assist with troubleshooting.

“We selected Honeywell after seeing significant improvements in product quality and production capacity as well as a reduction in production costs with the earlier implementation of Experion,” said a representative of Konya Sugar’s Cumra site management. “We also appreciate Honeywell’s commitment to customer satisfaction. All our requests are handled quickly and seamlessly and we feel like a valued partner.”

Honeywell’s SESP for Konya Sugar will help the company maintain peak operating performance and maximize the long-term value of the company’s control systems and installed solutions. The SESP contract is designed to meet the needs of the Cumra site and includes software updates to the installed system to maintain optimum performance. Honeywell will also upgrade Konya Sugar’s existing Experion to the latest release, Experion R310. This upgrade should allow the site to increase productivity and decrease maintenance costs, with up to 50 percent better return-on-investment over the facility’s lifecycle due to faster access to process information, a decrease in shutdowns, and quicker recovery from process upsets. Finally, the factory will benefit from 24/7 on-site technical assistance.

“Maximizing results from automation, control and information technologies is top-of-mind for process manufacturers, especially in the current economy,” said Naci Erakin, country leader for Honeywell Process Solutions Turkey.  “Honeywell’s support and services help its customers protect their automation investments and migrate to newer technology at their own pace in order to improve their overall business performance.”

Konya Sugar is the largest private sugar producer in Turkey and is considered the leader in beet and sugar production. The company owns two factories: the Konya site, built in 1954, which has a daily beet processing capacity of 10,000 tons and daily sugar production of 1,800 tons; and the Cumra factory, built in 2004, which has a processing capacity of 14,000 tons and yearly liquid sugar production of 120,000 tons.
