Wood-Based and Organic Chemicals Producer Uses Experion to Boost Safety, Reliability and Efficiency at Key Production Sites
OSLO, Sept. 3, 2008 – Honeywell (NYSE:HON) today announced that it has won a contract to provide Borregaard, a leading producer of wood-based and organic chemicals, with process control systems that will be used to streamline production at the company’s Ethanol, Lignin and Vanillin (ELV) production sites in Norway.
Honeywell will supply an Experion® Process Knowledge System (PKS) and a comprehensive service and support package covering the engineering, configuration and start-up of the system. The project is expected to be completed by summer 2010.
The Honeywell technology will serve as a common platform for Borregaard’s production sites, helping to reduce complexity and operating costs. In addition, the solution will help plant operators better develop their skills, give better visibility into operating bottlenecks to increase efficiencies and increase ELV production levels.
“Competitive advantage is everything in the speciality chemicals business,” said Geir Myhre, general manager, Honeywell Process Solutions Norway. “The new process control system should help Borregaard boost the safety, reliability and efficiency of their plants and in doing so boost both production output and the quality of their paper products.”
Borregaard is an international company with a strong global position in wood-based chemicals and other niches of organic chemicals. The company develops and supplies specialty chemicals, fine chemicals and ingredients for a wide range of applications. Borregaard has 20 production plants in 12 countries and sales offices in Europe, America, Asia and Africa.
