HONEYWELL HONORED WITH MANAGING AUTOMATION 2008 PROGRESSIVE MANUFACTURING 50 AWARD

Award Recognizes Honeywell for Commitment to Customer Service and Satisfaction

PHOENIX, April 28, 2008 – Honeywell (NYSE:HON) has been awarded a Progressive Manufacturing 50 Award from Managing Automation magazine for its process of incorporating customer feedback into its industrial technology development. The awards recognize projects that have achieved excellence in core disciplines critical to business success in manufacturing.

“This new crop of Progressive Manufacturing winners reflects the amazing creativity and determination alive today in the manufacturing community,” said David R. Brousell, Managing Automation editor-in-chief. “These companies are taking bold steps to rethink their business models and processes, their relationships with customers and partners, and to create new advantages for themselves in business speed and value. In doing so, they are positioning their organizations for greater success now and in the years ahead.”

Specifically, Honeywell was nominated for its Customer Advisory Boards, a group of 13 customer committees that drive improvements in some of the company’s most widely used solutions. Each group provides recommendations and advice on strategic technology issues, as well as recommendations on feature enhancements.

For example, Honeywell’s Experion Customer Advisory Board (ECAB), established in 2003, has been influential in the development of the Experion Process Knowledge System (PKS), Honeywell’s main process automation and control platform that ties together critical process subsystems. ECAB feedback was instrumental in the development of cyber security measures that have garnered praise and industry awards for their ability to protect process control networks from cyber threats. ECAB was also instrumental in the development of several other Experion enhancements such as fieldbus device manager integration and enhanced batch functions.

Honeywell also uses its Customer Advisory Boards to measure customer service and satisfaction. The company’s User Input Subcommittee, for example, is comprised of industry leaders with representatives who have a desire to see specific improvements and enhancement for Honeywell's automation control systems. In addition to its Customer Advisory Boards and user group meetings, Honeywell also maintains its voice of the customer (VOC) process, which provides a formal listening process to better understand customer needs.

“Customer feedback is one of the most valuable tools we use in driving Honeywell technology innovations,” said Jack Bolick, president of Honeywell Process Solutions. “Collaborating with customers is the best way to understand their unique challenges. That knowledge is an important part of what we use to create solutions that improve overall plant safety, reliability and efficiency.”

Judges evaluated and scored nominated projects based on project scope, business impact, customer impact, technology use and scale. Progressive Manufacturing 50 winners received the highest total scores in their respective categories.
