HONEYWELL’S ONEWIRELESS AND MES SUITE CHOSEN AS TOP 50 TECHNOLOGIESSTART-IT Awards Honor Honeywell Products that Improve Business Performance

PHOENIX, Nov. 15, 2007 – Honeywell’s (NYSE:HON) OneWireless™ industrial wireless mesh network solution and its Manufacturing Execution System (MES) suite have been selected as two of 2008’s Top 50 Technologies by START-IT magazine. The awards honor products that help manufacturing companies improve their businesses performance. Winning products were gauged on their uniqueness and functionality.

“While considering hundreds of products, the editors of START-IT chose winners that fit the needs of the manufacturing community,” said Peggy Smedley, editorial director of START-IT. “These companies are providing manufacturers with innovative and emerging technologies that enhance revenue opportunities and improve business practices.”

Introduced earlier this year at Honeywell Users Group Americas in Phoenix, OneWireless was developed in response to the need for a single, industrial wireless network that could support multiple applications. The Honeywell OneWireless network supports multiple industrial protocols and applications simultaneously, providing a single network that is simple to manage and efficient to operate. Scalable to 30,000 devices, the open, standards-based infrastructure allows manufacturers to take advantage of new applications as they become available.

Using OneWireless components, a North American grain alcohol plant improved throughput by $750,000 year-over-year with wireless pressure transmitters. A similar system implemented at a North American refinery reduced installation time from six months to two days and saved $76,000 on installation costs.

“The plants of the future will thrive based on three key ingredients: safety, reliability and efficiency,” said Harsh Chitale, vice president of global marketing and strategy for Honeywell Process Solutions. “OneWireless was developed in direct response to those needs. Its universal nature gives manufacturers great flexibility in designing a network that best suits their facilities and offers broad choices in instrumentation.”

Honeywell’s other award winner, the MES suite of products, includes the integration of Business FLEX, OptiVision and POMSnet.  Business FLEX® applications help industrial facilities synchronize production schedules with business objectives while reducing operating costs.  OptiVISION® manages the complete order-to-cash cycle for pulp and paper companies.  POMSnet™ enforces good manufacturing practices and controls and tracks all aspects of production in the life sciences industries

With Business FLEX, companies typically increase production by three to six percent while decreasing costs by two to three percent. OptiVISION has proven to reduce raw material and work-in-progress inventory, as well as minimize production losses and improve load quality. POMSnet customers improve cycle times, reduce the cost of compliance and achieve greater manufacturing responsiveness.

“Honeywell MES solutions support business performance by effectively managing all steps of the production lifecycle, from specifying materials to shipping the product,” said Chitale. “By helping plant personnel manage execution decisions, cycle times are improved, cost of compliance is reduced and increased efficiency is achieved.”
