HONEYWELL ENABLES EDUCATION AT UZBEKISTAN ORPHANAGE

Technology Donation Supports Uzbekistan’s “Year of Harmoniously Developed Generation” State Program

TASHKENT, Uzbekistan, August 2, 2010 – Honeywell (NYSE:HON) demonstrated its support of Uzbekistan’s “Year of Harmoniously Developed Generation” state program by donating technology for the boarding school of the city of Samarqand, an orphanage housing approximately 150 Uzbekistani children.

Honeywell supplied 11 personal computers, 2 printers and 12 sets of tables and chairs for the technology valued at approximately $12,000 USD. Engineers from HIMAVTOMATIKA, a Honeywell joint venture in Uzbekistan, installed the hardware and software, as well as set up the computer network for the orphanage. Introducing this technology to the children will provide greater, more robust opportunities to help advance their educations and training on modern communications tools. Executives from Honeywell Process Solutions, a part of the Honeywell Automation and Control Solutions business group, Z. Mirzaev, mayor of Samarqand City, and A. Umarov, head of the Regional Education Administration for Uzbekistan participated in a ceremony at the orphanage to celebrate the donation.

“We are pleased to support Uzbekistan’s efforts to improve the lives of its people,” said Norm Gilsdorf, president of Honeywell Process Solutions.  “Strong education and communications skills are important for preparing Uzbekistani youth for working in the global economy, which is why this donation is so important.  Connecting children with this technology will help make learning more fun and engaging, as well as train children how to use communications tools for future schooling and business.”

Uzbekistan’s “Year of Harmoniously Developed Generation” state program includes a wide range of measures aimed at enhancing the country’s education, healthcare and social infrastructures, with a special emphasis on developing healthy children and families. The key program tasks include improving legislation protecting the rights and interests of children and youth, expanding reforms in healthcare, improving educational standards and study programs, developing and introducing the Uzbek people to modern information and communication technologies and tools, promoting sports and healthy lifestyle, stimulating small business and private entrepreneurship especially among youth and rural areas, and boosting scientific research and activities.

Honeywell employs 43 employees in 2 facilities in Uzbekistan.

The donation is part of Honeywell Hometown Solutions, the company’s corporate citizenship initiative which focuses on key areas of vital importance: Family Safety and Security; Housing and Shelter; Science and Math Education; Habitat & Conservation; and Humanitarian Relief.  Visit the Honeywell Hometown Solutions website for more information about the program.
