Balance of Plant: Frequently Asked Questions

Q: Is Balance of Plant separate from the process control functions of Experion?
A. No. Balance of Plant is an integral part of the functions provided by the Experion system, and utilizes the same engineering tools and display features as control functions.

Q: Do Honeywell Balance of Plant functions completely replace the features of a traditional SCADA system?
A. Yes. The Experion platform evolved from a powerful SCADA system, and not only retains all of the features found in legacy or modern SCADA systems, but improves on them by supporting many more communications protocols and media without gateways or middleware.

Q: Does Experion connect well with PLCs?
A. Yes. Honeywell integrates peer-to-peer with Allen-Bradley PLCs over ControlNet, and provides standard interfaces to practically all types of PLCs and PLC networks that exist today.
