Sootblowing: Frequently Asked Questions

Q: Where does the Smart Sootblowing application reside?
A. The Smart Sootblowing application runs in the Experion Server or in an ACE Node.

Q: Does this application require user programming?
A. No. Smart Sootblowing is table-driven. Using setup screens, operators can make on-line changes to all user-configurable parameters, including lance order, sets, delay times and interlocks.

Q: Is it necessary to install new plant equipment, sensors or other hardware to utilize this application?
A. No. Existing sensors, actuators and sootblowing equipment can all be utilized.

Q: Can this application interface with PLC-based logic?
A. Yes. Honeywell integrates peer-to-peer with Allen-Bradley PLCs over ControlNet, and provides standard interfaces to practically all types of PLCs and PLC networks that exist today.
