Honeywell has been a member of the HART Communication Foundation (HCF) since the organization was founded in 1993. HCF is an independent, non-profit organization that provides worldwide support for the application of the HART Protocol. As the technology owner and standards-setting body for the HART Protocol, the organization manages the protocol standards and ensures the technology is openly available for the benefit of the industry. It also educates users by providing training and support for application of the HART Protocol.
Honeywell’s support of the foundation aligns with our commitment to provide world-class products and services to our customers. Along with other major industrial manufacturers, we participate in the foundation’s bi-annual working group to review and enhance product specifications. Over the years, we have developed technology solutions in strict accordance with HART standards and contributed innovative ideas for improving the protocol and delivering greater benefit to end-users.
The Honeywell Field Device Manager (FDM) is an example of a Honeywell solution that is fully aligned with the HART protocol. A comprehensive solution for the management of smart devices, FDM provides users with the freedom and flexibility to better manage and maintain HART devices, reducing maintenance costs and improving employee productivity. Additionally, it supports all universal, common-practice, and device-specific commands described in the vendor-created HART Device Description file.
